Level 1 — Connect & Demonstrate

Put numbers 1, 2 and 3 on a mat. Say: “This is number one. Can you show me one?” Slowly trace the outline of a numeral and allow your child to explore its shape.

Level 2 — Share the Play

Take turns choosing and standing a number. Say “I found three! Your turn—can you find four?” Allow pointing, gestures, tracing or AAC instead of a spoken answer.

Level 3 — Grow Together

Build a short 1–5 number sequence, try balancing a small tower, find the missing number or make a creative numeral sculpture. Introduce extra numbers when the child is ready.

Adaptations for Different Learning Needs

ADHD or high activity: use two-minute building rounds, add movement breaks and praise the process. ASD: show a repeatable “choose–build–finish” visual schedule. Fine-motor differences: arrange pieces flat before standing them. Communication or developmental differences: begin with two options and accept gesture, eye gaze, picture cards or AAC.
