Level 1 — Connect & Demonstrate

Place the numerals 1, 2 and 3 in front of your child. Say: “This is one. Can you find one?” Point to a matching counter, place it on the card and invite your child to copy. Start with just two choices; celebrate looking, touching or pointing.

Level 2 — Share the Play

Take turns choosing a number. Say: “My turn: two. Your turn: which number?” Show a simple 1 + 1 card; count aloud together and let the child place the answer counter. If speaking is difficult, offer a picture choice, gesture or AAC device.

Level 3 — Grow Together

Present simple sums within 10, then subtraction or “missing number” games. Invite your child to build an equation with counters and explain the answer through speech, signs, pointing or assisted communication. Change just one challenge at a time.

Inclusive Play Adjustments

• ADHD / high activity: use 3–5 minute rounds, allow standing or movement between cards, and offer one prompt at a time.
• Autism / ASD: introduce the same visual sequence each session—choose, count, place, finish—and let the child explore the materials before asking questions.
• Developmental or learning differences: work with 1–3 first, model the answer and provide hand-over-hand help only with consent and comfort.
• Language and communication differences: accept pointing, gestures, number cards and AAC rather than requiring spoken answers.
