Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan

1. Connect & demonstrate

Present one side only and cover the others with a cloth if distractions are high. Pick a single piece and slowly align it with its opening. Say, 'Turn, find, drop.'

2. Share the play

Take turns holding the cube stable and placing a shape. Offer the child a choice of two pieces and let them signal which one they want. Act out pulling and posting the carrots as a mini story.

3. Grow together

Once one side is familiar, match two shapes and then introduce another face. Invite the child to notice which pieces fit, predict where one will fall and complete a two-step first–then task.

Inclusive play adjustments

For ADHD and active learners: Begin with one two-minute round, give a single instruction, use a visual finished cue and offer movement breaks. For autistic (ASD) learners: Demonstrate a predictable first–then sequence; support parallel play and respect sensory boundaries without requiring eye contact. For developmental delay, intellectual disability or additional support needs: Reduce the number of pieces, slow the pace, offer repeated demonstrations and wait for any form of response. For children who use AAC, gestures or pictures: Model 'my turn', 'your turn', 'help', 'stop', 'more' and choice-making without insisting on speech.

Parent tips

Notice what your child enjoys, invite rather than compel participation, and praise shared engagement, choices and experimentation. Adapt the activity to the child's developmental stage and stop when they show signs of fatigue or distress.

Safety & care

Adult supervision is required; check the correct age rating and small loose components before play. Set the cube on a stable surface to avoid pinched fingers. Adult guidance and age appropriateness matter more than any suggested age in an example play plan.
