Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together. Use your Interactive Leveled Reading Sound Book as a starting point for relaxed, child-led interaction. Try one short activity, and follow your child's interests, developmental stage and comfort.
- 1. Connect & demonstrate: Choose a favourite picture, letter or sound on the learning surface. Say, “Let's listen to just one.”
- 2. Share the play: Touch or point to the picture, listen together and take turns choosing the next sound; repeat a favourite if your child wishes.
- 3. Grow together: Connect the sound or word with a real object or everyday action, then invite the child to select another example.
Adapt play for ADHD, autism and different learning needs
For children with limited spoken language, model one word while accepting gesture, eye gaze or AAC. For sensory differences, offer low volume and breaks; no verbal repetition is required.
Caregiver tip: Children can respond through speech, gestures, pointing, eye gaze or AAC. Support their choices, avoid forcing performance, and celebrate moments of shared play. These are opportunities for learning and connection, not treatment for ADHD, autism or learning disabilities and not a guarantee of a particular outcome. Follow the product-specific age and safety guidance.
Five ways to explore
Listen to letter names and sounds, practise simple words, connect words into short phrases, explore basic sentences and enjoy illustrated stories. It is designed as an engaging listening-and-reading resource for ages 3+ as marked on the cover.
Caregiver guide for ADHD, autism and diverse learning needs
- Point and repeat: select one page and two letters. Sound out a letter together; pause so the child can tap the picture or imitate at their own pace.
- Make words physical: for a child who prefers movement, pair short CVC words with toy letters or objects placed nearby, then take a break.
- Visual story routine: for autistic learners, start with one familiar story, cue “first/next/last,” and offer consistent page-turning turns.
- Accessible participation: for developmental and intellectual disabilities, use large visual choices and model one answer; include eye pointing, signing or AAC in the storytelling.
- Emotion and connection: discuss “How does the character feel?” using a choice between two illustrated emotions. Revisit favorite pages without pressure.
