Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together. Use your Interactive Talking Learning Posters & English Sound Boards as a starting point for relaxed, child-led interaction. Try one short activity, and follow your child's interests, developmental stage and comfort.
- 1. Connect & demonstrate: Choose a favourite picture, letter or sound on the learning surface. Say, “Let's listen to just one.”
- 2. Share the play: Touch or point to the picture, listen together and take turns choosing the next sound; repeat a favourite if your child wishes.
- 3. Grow together: Connect the sound or word with a real object or everyday action, then invite the child to select another example.
Adapt play for ADHD, autism and different learning needs
For children with limited spoken language, model one word while accepting gesture, eye gaze or AAC. For sensory differences, offer low volume and breaks; no verbal repetition is required.
Caregiver tip: Children can respond through speech, gestures, pointing, eye gaze or AAC. Support their choices, avoid forcing performance, and celebrate moments of shared play. These are opportunities for learning and connection, not treatment for ADHD, autism or learning disabilities and not a guarantee of a particular outcome. Follow the product-specific age and safety guidance.

Caregiver-guided play: practical steps
- One button, one word. Begin with just three pictures. Point together, say the word, and offer the child a turn to press. Give time for a spoken, gestured or AAC response.
- Choice and matching. Ask “apple or banana?” and accept a point, touch, sign or verbal answer. Match the picture to a real household object when available.
- Movement and attention breaks. For children with ADHD or high activity needs, make short rounds of two to five touches, then take a movement break. Invite the child back without pressure.
- Predictable turns. For autistic children who enjoy routines, demonstrate “my turn / your turn” with visual cues and consistent order. Lower the volume or skip audio if sound feels overwhelming.
- Supported participation. For children with developmental or intellectual disabilities, model a single action, offer hand-near-hand support when welcomed, and celebrate exploration rather than speed or correct answers.
- Everyday practice. Label foods during snack time, vehicles on a walk, or body parts during dressing to connect images with real life.
