Let's Go Fishing — a shared adventure in words, colours and movement

This lively fold-out fishing activity set combines colourful fish pieces, a tabletop fishing area, rods and picture/letter cards. Children can choose a fish, work together to bring it in, discover colours and animals, and practise matching and turn-taking with a parent.

Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan

1. Connect & demonstrate

Open the illustrated play area and present two fish. Show how to use the rod at a slow pace. Say, “Look, a blue fish! Shall we catch it?” Demonstrate once and let your child decide whether to try, watch or point.

2. Share the play

Alternate fishing turns. Give one-step prompts: “Your turn,” “Find red,” or “Put the fish here.” Pair a caught fish with an animal/letter card or use a simple request board for “fish,” “help,” “more” and “finished.”

3. Grow together

Ask the child to catch fish in a colour sequence, count the catch, find a matching picture, name a pictured animal, or make a short story about a sea adventure. Adjust the number of options so the activity stays enjoyable.

Flexible play for different learners

ADHD / high activity: play in brief one- or two-fish turns, set up a separate return spot and include a stretch break. ASD / autism: preview the “choose, catch, place” steps visually, keep the play layout predictable and let the child repeat a favourite sequence. Developmental, intellectual or language differences: begin with just one large target, offer a stable surface and accept eyes, hands, gestures, pictures or AAC responses.
