Materials: printed wooden picture board, matching raised wooden shapes, colored cord and wood-handled magnetic fishing wand. The chart dimensions describe the board and individual accessories; they are not packaging dimensions. The shipping box size is separate and is not specified in these images.

Five Caregiver-Led Activities

1. First match: lay out three pieces. Name or show one picture and help your child find its home on the board.
2. Magnetic fishing: use the wand to lift a piece, then bring it back to the board; practise controlled movement rather than speed.
3. Threading and lacing: under close adult supervision, demonstrate passing the cord through the intended opening, then take turns.
4. Tell the story: name a character, vehicle or animal and invite your child to tell you what might happen next.
5. Picture requests: use a simple visual-choice card or AAC symbol for “help,” “my turn,” “more” and the names of favorite pieces.

Activity Adaptations for ASD, ADHD & Developmental Support

Try a two-piece challenge for early learners, a predictable one-turn routine for autistic children, and short goal-based rounds for children who prefer active play. Model pointing, verbal labeling, gestures and AAC without demanding speech. Shared puzzles provide opportunities to practise fine-motor coordination, matching, early concepts, listening, choice-making and flexible problem-solving.

Is this Montessori or Waldorf inspired?

The hands-on, open-ended activities are compatible with Montessori-inspired independent exploration and Waldorf-inspired imaginative play. Kinmilo is not affiliated with either educational institution.

Can this be used in activities for children with autism, ADHD, or developmental delay?

Yes. A caregiver can offer fewer pieces, demonstrate one action at a time, provide visual cues and use short turn-taking games. Activities are flexible and can be adapted to the child's interests and comfort.

How can we support non-speaking children and AAC users?

Invite the child to point, gesture, sign or use an AAC device to request colors, shapes, turns, help and more. Give time to respond and respond to every meaningful attempt to communicate.

Does this treat or improve a medical condition?

No. Magnetic fishing and picture matching offers enjoyable opportunities to practise attention, communication, visual exploration, hand use and shared participation. It is a play activity, not a treatment or a clinical device.

How should we care for the wooden pieces?

Wipe with a soft slightly damp cloth and dry promptly. Do not soak wooden pieces, use harsh cleaners or expose the product to prolonged heat.
