Welcome to a colourful little market kitchen. With cheerful wooden fruit, vegetables, play knives, small serving trays, storage crates and bucket playsets, Kinmilo turns familiar mealtime routines into child-led discovery. Children can match colours, practise naming foods, combine pieces, create pretend recipes, count portions and tidy a miniature grocery collection. Each tactile food shape invites shared play and playful storytelling.

All themed assortments are available under one clearly organised product page. Choose your preferred piece count and storage format before adding to cart. A six-piece crate does not contain the full 31-piece assortment.

Materials, Design & What Is in the Set

The collection uses painted wooden play food shaped like tomatoes, citrus, melons, carrots, peppers, cucumbers and other familiar produce. The pictured cutting sets use joined sections and child-sized pretend wooden knives, while some sorting styles add labelled wooden food crates and flat activity pieces. Colourful surface illustrations reveal fruit cross-sections when pieces are separated. These are hand-led pretend-play toys, not real kitchen knives or edible food. Select the appropriate set to receive its corresponding wooden accessories and storage container.

Parent & Caregiver Activity Guide — From Simple Choices to Shared Stories

1. First Fruits: Match Two Colours

Put one red tomato and one green cucumber on a tray. Name them slowly: “Red tomato. Green cucumber.” Ask “Which one is red?” and accept pointing, looking, handing over an item, gesture or AAC. Start with one correct match, celebrate participation and gradually offer a third colour.

2. Pretend Slice, Count & Serve

Demonstrate separating a joined play fruit once with the pretend tool. Invite the child to copy or request help. Count the halves together, then pretend to offer a piece to a teddy bear. Use “whole,” “half,” “one,” “two,” “cut” and “again” to build useful descriptive language.

3. Market Shop & Food Sorting

Arrange the wooden crates as a mini shop. Show a picture list with two items; invite the child to find, name and place the items into the basket, then switch roles as customer and shopkeeper. A timer or clear end cue can help make the activity predictable.

4. A Three-Step Meal Routine

Use picture cues “choose, cut, serve.” Model each action once, then invite the child to lead. Keep steps short and playful, and expand gradually to setting a table or tidying the crate.

5. Build a Colour-Pattern Salad

For learners ready for longer sequences, arrange red–green–red–green food pieces and ask what comes next. Swap the pattern for orange–yellow or fruit–vegetable, making patterns about visual matching rather than speed.

Inclusive Activities for ADHD, ASD, Developmental Delay & Other Support Needs

  • ADHD / high activity levels: keep a round to a few minutes, assign active roles such as “find two oranges” or “deliver the food,” and alternate tabletop sorting with movement. Offer clear, achievable steps.
  • Autism spectrum (ASD): let the child explore favourite foods first, follow predictable “first match, then serve” visuals and respect sensory boundaries. It is fine to observe, line up the pieces or play without speaking.
  • Developmental delays / intellectual disabilities: begin with one familiar item, show the task physically, offer a yes/no or two-item choice, and repeat successful routines without pressure to reach a fixed milestone.
  • Fine-motor or physical disabilities: use stable low-sided trays, place pieces within reach and allow a partner to steady an item. The child can direct play by gaze or gestures even if a caregiver moves the toys.
  • Speech and communication differences: add picture symbols or AAC vocabulary for “want,” “more,” “help,” “finished,” fruit names and colours. Model the symbols naturally during shared play.
  • Mixed-ability groups: let each participant choose a different meaningful role—shopper, sorter, chef, cashier, recipe reader or food deliverer—to promote inclusive shared play.

Regular shared play offers opportunities to practise attention, matching, fine-motor movements, vocabulary, sequencing, turn taking, pretend problem-solving and confidence at an individual pace. These toys do not diagnose, prevent or treat a condition.

Craftsmanship, Care & Safety

Recommended for ages 3 years and up. Adult supervision is required where small or detachable pieces are present. These are pretend foods and play tools—do not put pieces in the mouth or use knives on real foods. Store every piece after play. Wipe clean with a soft lightly damp cloth and dry immediately. Do not soak in water or put in the dishwasher. Inspect pieces for wear and remove damaged items.

CPC & CE: Kinmilo maintains CPC and CE product testing documentation for its educational toy range. Contact our team for information related to the exact style purchased.

Is the 31-piece set a large crate?

The 31-piece set is presented as a handled bucket, approximately 20.6 × 20.6 × 20.2 cm. The 17-piece large crate and 9-piece sorting crates are different formats.

Are the vegetables really cut?

They are wooden pretend-play pieces with separable joined parts designed for hand-led simulation. They are not real foods or edible materials.

Yes. Begin with a favourite item, short matching challenges, visual instructions and flexible participation. Adapt pace, number of items and social demands to the child.

Offer two objects, use picture choices or AAC and let the child direct the next part of the shopping or pretend meal activity through pointing or eye gaze.

Is the toy inspired by Montessori or Waldorf education?
