Kinmilo Together Time: a guided activity plan
1. Connect and demonstrate
Lay the apron across the lap and gently introduce one ribbon or fabric patch. Say, “Here is a soft flower. Would you like to touch it?” Check that waist ties are comfortable and never restrictive.
2. Share the activity
Demonstrate a simple ribbon pull or finger-through-loop action. Ask, “Would you like the blue one or the yellow one?” Encourage choice-making by pointing or touch, and allow time for a response.
3. Grow together
Try a three-part routine: find a ribbon, run fingertips along the lace, then smooth the fabric. You can invite reminiscence about sewing, favourite clothes or flowers without asking the person to recall facts accurately.
Who may enjoy this?
Designed for caregiver-led seated activity and tactile exploration with older people, including those living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease. Suitable where a lap-based apron is safer and easier to access than a tabletop board. Supervise around waist ties, fringe and attached trims.
Frequently asked questions
How long should a session last?
Begin with a comfortable two-to-five-minute interaction; extend only if the person wants to continue. Their choice matters more than finishing a task.
Can it be used in care settings?
Yes, as an optional supported leisure activity when suitable for the person's abilities and local safety requirements; it should complement, not replace, professional care.
Care and safety
Use with a caregiver as appropriate. Introduce one feature at a time and stop if the person seems uncomfortable or fatigued. Check straps, buttons, beads, stitching and other attachments before each use. Keep loose parts away from anyone who mouths objects or is at risk of choking. This is an engagement and daily-activity aid, not a medical treatment or a promise to reverse dementia, autism or other conditions.
Testing documentation
Kinmilo maintains US and EU product testing documentation. Relevant model-specific reports, age grading and market labelling should be confirmed before the item is made available for sale.
