Materials, Craft and Everyday Care
Enjoy carefully shaped wooden pieces, tactile serving shapes and pastel painted finishes, with melamine elements in select tea-service components. Stands, food pieces, handles, utensils and trays invite holding, setting down, sorting and creative rearrangement. Wipe with a soft, lightly damp cloth, dry immediately and store indoors. Pretend food and drink only: do not serve hot liquids, put pieces in a dishwasher or use as real drinkware. Adult supervision is recommended, and small accessories must be kept away from children under 3.
Parent & Caregiver Activity Guide
1. Start with Two Choices (5 minutes)
Offer just two familiar objects: “Cup or cake?” Show both, pause and allow the child to select by pointing, looking, signing, using AAC or saying a word. Respond to the child's communication, then model one action such as lifting a cup or setting it on a tray. Add more items gradually.
2. Practise Requests, Turn-Taking and Sharing (5–10 minutes)
Take turns being the host and guest. Model “my turn,” “your turn,” “more please” and “all done” through short, repeatable phrases. For a learner who needs less language, simply pass one object back and forth. For a confident child, try taking a two-part order: “One tea and one cake.”
3. Make a Three-Step Visual Routine
Set out the cups; serve imaginary tea; return items to their places. Draw or photograph each stage to make a simple visual schedule. Let the child choose who receives a cup next. This creates opportunities to practise sequencing, following familiar directions and everyday independence.
4. Open a Café or Celebrate a Birthday
Use the dessert stand or birthday cake for customer-and-server role-play. Ask who is visiting, what they would like and how you can welcome them. Children can invent stories with family members, dolls and soft toys, work on pretend social exchanges and enjoy flexible imaginative play.
Adjusting Play for Additional Learning Needs
- Autism / ASD: use consistent placement, a first–then card and a preferred role. Respect sensory preferences and welcome non-speaking forms of communication. Do not require eye contact.
- ADHD / high activity levels: try short “mission” rounds: fetch one cup, deliver it, then take a movement break. Restart with another achievable action rather than insisting on prolonged sitting.
- Developmental delay: begin with one step, such as matching a cup to a saucer; model it gently and repeat familiar activities before introducing new vocabulary.
- Intellectual disabilities or physical disabilities: position a stable tray within easy reach, simplify choices and encourage the child to direct an adult when moving a piece is difficult.
- Fine-motor and communication practice: stir, grip, lift, arrange, request, compare colors and put away items at a comfortable pace.
Shared play creates opportunities for attention, confidence, vocabulary, coordination and communication practice. Individual experiences vary; these toys are educational play materials, not treatments or medical devices.
Montessori- and Waldorf-Inspired Learning
The sets complement Montessori-inspired practical-life activities such as arranging a table, carrying objects, sorting and tidying away, alongside Waldorf-inspired imaginative storytelling through make-believe cafés, celebrations and family rituals. Ideal for preschool role-play corners, playrooms and inclusive caregiver-led activities.
