Make Time for Little Conversations Over Afternoon Tea

Pour an imaginary cup of tea, share a wooden cookie and invite a friend to the table. The Kinmilo Wooden Afternoon Tea Pretend Play Set gives young hosts a beautiful hands-on way to explore familiar routines, take turns and create stories. With a flower-shaped serving tray, wooden teapot, little cups, play spoons, biscuits, lemon slices and sweet snack accessories, this child-sized set makes a cozy tea party feel wonderfully real.

Choose Your Tea Party Color

Blue & Aqua Tea Party features a turquoise teapot, bright red cups and a blue scalloped gingham tray. Pink & Mint Tea Party pairs a pink teapot with a soft natural-wood and green serving tray. Each is a complete tea-party style offered as one selectable variant on this product page; the color palette and accessory details correspond to the chosen option.

Materials & Craftsmanship

Made with wooden pretend-play tea accessories, smoothly finished edges and colorful painted details. The child-sized wooden items encourage children to pick up, set down, scoop, pour and arrange their own miniature table service. No real tea, liquids, electricity or heating are required. This is a pretend-play toy, not drinkware for real beverages.

Try This 12-Minute Tea Party Together

  1. Welcome a guest: let your child invite a parent, sibling or favorite stuffed animal to sit down, using their own words, signs or picture symbols.
  2. Set the table: identify the teapot, cup, spoon and pretend biscuit. Let the child arrange each piece on the tray.
  3. Practice asking: model “Would you like tea or lemon?” and offer a real choice between two toy pieces.
  4. Serve and share: take turns pretending to pour into a cup and offering a cookie. Use “my turn,” “your turn,” “please” and “thank you.”
  5. Count and sort: count the cookies, group by color or type, and put each item back in its place to finish.

For Children with Autism (ASD)

A familiar tea-party routine can be adapted into three predictable visual steps: set the table → pour → tidy up. Let your child watch first, choose a favorite prop or use AAC or gestures to request a cup. Respect sensory preferences, avoid pressure to speak or make eye contact, and repeat the parts they enjoy.

For ADHD and Highly Active Learners

Keep tasks brief and physical: “Bring two cups,” “Find the biscuit,” “Serve the teddy.” Introduce one mission at a time and let the child switch roles between host and guest. Play can be split into several short rounds rather than one long seated activity.

For Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability and Fine-Motor Needs

Start by matching just two larger pieces, then build up to placing a cup on the tray, picking up a spoon or offering an item to a caregiver. Model each action slowly and allow extra response time. The child can participate by reaching, choosing, pointing, speaking or using an AAC device. Shared play creates opportunities to practise coordination, routine sequencing, communication and confidence at each child's own pace.

Montessori & Waldorf-Inspired Play

Everyday serving routines complement Montessori-inspired practical-life learning and child-led play. Open-ended make-believe visits, café scenes and tea parties also connect with Waldorf-inspired storytelling and imaginative play. Enjoyment, connection and participation come first; this toy is not a medical treatment or a promise of developmental improvement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the set include real tea or food?
A: No. The teapot, cups, biscuits, lemon slices and other food pieces are wooden pretend-play props only.

Q: What is the recommended age?
A: Designed for ages 3 years and above, with adult supervision, because smaller play-food parts are included.

Q: What is the difference between blue and pink?
A: Both are afternoon-tea play styles. Choose Blue & Aqua for the turquoise teapot and gingham-style scalloped tray, or Pink & Mint for the pink teapot and softer natural-wood tray design.

Q: How big is the play tray?
A: The pictured blue tray measures 27 × 21.8 cm. The 28 × 23 × 8 cm measurements refer to the retail box.

Q: How can parents use it with children with ASD or ADHD?
A: Create simple, repeatable serving routines and short choice-based activities. Allow gestures, AAC and different forms of participation.

Q: Is it suitable for Montessori or Waldorf-inspired play?
A: Its open-ended serving and storytelling encourage Montessori-style practical-life activities and Waldorf-style imaginative play.

Q: How should we clean it?
A: Wipe wood with a slightly damp soft cloth and dry promptly. Do not submerge the wooden pieces.

Q: Are CPC and CE test reports available?
A: Kinmilo maintains CPC and CE testing documents for its products. Ask our customer care team for the relevant product documents.
