Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together. Explore Wooden Everyday Life Pretend Play as a shared parent–child activity. Begin with one short, enjoyable interaction and follow your child's pace.
- 1. Connect & demonstrate: Choose two pretend foods or utensils and demonstrate preparing a small snack.
- 2. Share the play: Take turns preparing and serving a pretend meal; invite your child to choose the next action.
- 3. Grow together: Add a simple menu with two choices or a 'first cook, then serve' routine.
Inclusive play for ADHD, autism and different developmental or learning needs
Use familiar foods and visual steps. Accept gestures, pointing or AAC as meal requests. Children can join through words, actions, pointing, eye gaze, signs or AAC. Offer short rounds, visual prompts and control over breaks as needed.
Caregiver note: Build moments of connection and participation, not a test of speed or correctness. These are educational practice opportunities, not treatments or guarantees of progress. Follow the specific product's age and safety advice, with supervision around detachable parts.

How Parents Can Play Together
1. Set the Family Table
Ask the child to choose a pretend dish and place it on the table. Model simple social phrases such as “Would you like some tea?” or accept a point or gesture for children using AAC.
2. Follow a Two-Step Recipe
With the pretend bakery or baking pieces, show “mix, then serve.” Later offer a three-step routine and let your child lead.
3. Practice Ordering and Taking Turns
Switch roles between customer and café host. Order a drink, count the items and invite the child to serve a parent, sibling or toy.
4. Explore a Gentle Self-Care Routine
Use pretend spa items to act out “wash, relax, tidy up” with dolls or toys. These are make-believe accessories, not skin-care products.
5. Make Choices and Tidy Together
Offer two objects and ask which should come next. Sort props by function or color and finish by returning everything to its storage area.
Inclusive Interaction Ideas
Autism (ASD): start with a familiar routine such as pouring pretend tea, using a photo or three-step visual prompt to support predictability and flexible communication. ADHD or high activity levels: try short kitchen missions and alternate seated play with movement. Developmental delays or intellectual disabilities: break instructions into single enjoyable actions, model each step and repeat without rushing. Fine-motor challenges: choose larger props, use a stable nonslip tray and invite pointing or supported movements rather than insisting on precise gripping.
Role play creates opportunities to practice daily-living sequences, communication, turn-taking, fine-motor control and imaginative thinking. It does not constitute therapy or promise medical outcomes.
Care, Age Guidance & Toy Testing
Clean wooden components gently with a soft damp cloth; dry immediately. Keep small parts away from children under three and supervise all activity. Recommended for ages 3+. CPC and CE toy testing documentation is maintained for the Kinmilo product range.
FAQs

Are these toys Montessori or Waldorf-inspired?
Yes. The everyday practical-life routines complement Montessori child-led learning, while the pretend stories complement Waldorf imaginative play.
Can this work for a non-speaking child?
Absolutely. Children can participate by choosing, pointing, arranging pieces, copying actions or using AAC rather than spoken responses.
