Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together.
1. Connect & Demonstrate
Sit side by side, set out three shapes and say: “This block is yellow. I turn it. It fits here!” Demonstrate a simple two-block arrangement, then leave space for your child to choose and place a block.
2. Share the Play
Build together with alternating turns. Ask “Which colour should go next?” Let the child point, pick, name, sign or select a colour through an AAC board. Copy the child's placement to demonstrate shared attention without correcting every attempt.
3. Grow Together
Copy a short shape pattern, rotate a block to fit an opening, then create a design from memory. For the counting-board option, practise sorting and lining up objects from 1 to 5 rather than demanding written answers.
Personalise Play for Different Learners
ADHD or high activity levels: set a 2-minute shape challenge and end with a standing stretch. ASD: use the same opening routine, limit the starting pieces and provide a picture example. Developmental and intellectual disabilities: start with two contrasting shapes and allow repeated attempts. Language differences: accept gestures, eye gaze and AAC requests such as “more,” “help” and “finished.” These are opportunities to practise communication and problem-solving, not promises of treatment or developmental outcomes.
Care, Safety & Documentation
Keep small parts away from children who mouth objects; supervise play and store all pieces after use. Wipe wooden parts with a dry cloth. Kinmilo documentation includes CPC and CE test reports.
