Explore, Name, Match & Learn: Wooden Preschool Puzzle Board Collection

One adaptable Kinmilo learning collection, many ways to play. Choose a bright wooden puzzle board featuring letters, numbers, shapes, favourite animals, familiar foods, vehicles or everyday scenes. Lift the shaped pieces, explore the picture beneath and return them to their matching places—then use the same board for storytelling, counting and purposeful parent-child interaction. Each illustration invites discovery without demanding a single pace or learning route.

Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan

Play Together. Grow Together. Turn Wooden Learning Puzzle Boards into relaxed parent–child interaction. Begin with a short activity, respond to your child's interests and allow breaks.

  1. 1. Connect & demonstrate: Choose one familiar word, letter or picture and show where it belongs.
  2. 2. Share the play: Take turns matching or arranging a letter with its picture.
  3. 3. Grow together: Find a real object that begins with the sound or make a short word.

Adapt the activity for ADHD, autism and developmental or learning differences

Show two choices at a time; accept pointing or AAC without requiring speech. For children with different communication needs, invite speech, pointing, gesture, eye gaze or AAC. A predictable start, limited choices and a clear stopping point can make play easier to join.

A note for families: Enjoy connection and meaningful participation rather than speed or perfect answers. These activities offer educational practice opportunities, not a medical treatment or a guaranteed developmental outcome. Follow the product's age and safety instructions, especially for detachable components.

Choose a Learning Theme

The Learning Theme menu brings the pictured alphabet, number, fruit, vegetable, farm, safari, ocean, insect, sweets, kitchen, transport, construction and geometry designs together in one product listing. Each option is one themed board, not a bundle containing every pictured design. Number and size of removable pieces differ by chosen theme. Selected board designs feature easy-lift wooden knobs or handles for grasping practice.

Dimensions & Materials

Illustrated handled rectangular puzzle board shown in the measurement photo: 30 × 22.5 × 0.5 cm (board length × width × thickness). This measurement describes the featured board style pictured in the size chart; the gallery also shows other puzzle formats and designs. Individual puzzle pieces and retail packaging are not included in this board measurement. Material: wooden activity boards and shaped wooden puzzle pieces with colourful printed or painted illustrations.

Six Guided Activities Caregivers Can Try

  1. Choose an interest: invite your child to select an animal, food, number or vehicle design that catches their eye.
  2. Find one matching place: remove just one piece, point to its outline or picture and invite the child to place it back independently.
  3. Offer two choices: hold out two puzzle pieces and ask the child to select one by gaze, point, gesture, speech or AAC.
  4. Sort and compare: find all red objects, count three fruits, match a letter to a sound or group land and sea animals.
  5. Build a story: use a farm board to narrate “the horse goes home” or a vehicle board to practise “stop”, “go” and “turn”.
  6. Finish with a routine: put each piece back, count the last three, and celebrate a completed play sequence.

Play Adaptations for ASD, ADHD & Developmental Differences

For autistic children: let the child start with a favourite topic, reduce visual clutter, show a simple beginning–middle–end plan and allow repeated matching without pressure to switch tasks. For ADHD: offer short missions such as “find two animals”, “match the letter B”, or “complete one row”, followed by a planned movement break. For developmental delay or intellectual disability: use a single removable piece at first, clearly demonstrate its fit, and progress to two-choice matching as comfortable. For speech differences and AAC users: model helpful vocabulary with symbol cards, gestures or the child's communication device: “more”, “same”, “help”, “animal”, “go”, “finished”. These are inclusive play ideas and learning opportunities rather than treatment promises.

Montessori & Waldorf-Inspired Learning

Independent handling, matching, repetition, choice-making and tidy-up reflect Montessori-style child-led exploration. Open-ended picture prompts also support Waldorf-inspired storytelling, imaginative worlds and cooperative play.

Material Care & Testing Documentation

Kinmilo provides CPC and CE testing documentation for its toy range. Use with adult supervision, keep loose pieces away from children younger than three, and store the pieces with the board after use. Wipe clean with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth; dry promptly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this toy Montessori or Waldorf inspired?

Yes. Children can independently investigate the pieces, practise matching and use the pictures to invent stories.

How do I help a child with developmental delays use the puzzle?

Start with one familiar picture, model the placement slowly, give time for an attempt and gradually offer more pieces as the child shows interest.

Can I use this with a non-speaking child?

Yes. Children can point, gesture, choose with gaze or use AAC symbols to identify pieces and ask for turns.

Is every design 30 × 22.5 × 0.5 cm?

That is the measured rectangular handled-board style shown in the image gallery. The collection also includes additional illustrated board formats.
