Turn colour patterns into a hands-on magnetic maze

Move red, yellow, blue and green beads along the wooden track and arrange them to match the colour-sequence challenge cards. The Kinmilo Wooden Magnetic Bead Sorting Track pairs a tactile path with a visual pattern display, inviting children to explore order, planning and cause-and-effect at their own pace.

Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan

Start small. Play together. Follow your child's pace. A practical 3–5 minute starting activity, with no pressure to perform.

  1. 1 · Connect & demonstrate: Choose a simple two-colour pattern. Say, “Let's move the red bead first, then the blue bead.”
  2. 2 · Share the play: Guide the magnetic pen along the track while the child selects the next colour. Alternate who chooses the pattern.
  3. 3 · Grow together: Copy a longer activity-card pattern or invite your child to create a sequence for you to copy.

Make the activity work for your child

For ADHD, cover other pattern steps until needed; for autistic learners, show a clear visual model and repeat the same pattern before changing it. Supervise the magnetic tool and stop if any component is damaged.

What matters most: notice your child's interests, offer genuine choices, welcome different ways of communicating, and end on a positive shared moment. These are educational play opportunities, not treatments or guaranteed outcomes.

Learning opportunities

  • Practise visual tracking and distinguishing four colours
  • Move the magnetic pen with controlled wrist and finger movements
  • Compare and copy a bead sequence from the illustrated challenge cards
  • Try simple predictions: 'Which colour comes next?'

Caregiver interaction guide

  1. First encounter: show one bead and one space. Demonstrate the magnetic pen moving the bead slowly from one position to another.
  2. Two-colour match: choose an easy red-and-blue sequence, put other cards away and ask the child to copy one step at a time.
  3. For ADHD or high activity levels: keep the challenge to a short, visible finish line of three beads and take a movement break between turns.
  4. For autistic children: use a predictable 'card → bead → match → finished' sequence and allow the child to choose the card before the round.
  5. For developmental disabilities: simplify the sequence, model a movement and use hand-under-hand support only with the child's comfort and consent.
  6. For non-speaking children: invite pointing, AAC colour symbols or eye-gaze choice instead of requiring spoken answers.

FAQs

Can the child play without speaking? Yes—matching, gestures, pointing and AAC choices all work.

Is this suitable for Montessori or Waldorf-inspired play? It complements hands-on visual sorting, child-led exploration and simple turn-taking.

How can I make it easier? Cover most of the reference card and copy only two beads to start.
