Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together. Adapt the pace, number of pieces and communication method to the child's preferences.
- Connect & demonstrate: Choose two easy pieces. Place one in the board and say, “Turn it. Now it fits.” Show one rotation at a time.
- Share the play: Take turns choosing and rotating a piece. Ask “This way or that way?” Let the child point or turn a piece to respond.
- Grow together: Use the included examples as visual plans, move from a two-piece model to a larger arrangement, and invite the child to explain or indicate which piece they changed.
Inclusive Play Adjustments
- For ADHD / high activity: use a two-minute, two-piece challenge followed by a quick reset.
- For autistic children: start with one familiar pattern and a predictable 'look → choose → turn → place' sequence.
- For developmental or intellectual disability: cover unused spaces and work on matching shape outlines before independent construction.
- For AAC: model 'turn', 'fit', 'try', 'help' and 'finished' using pictures or gestures.
Montessori- & Waldorf-Inspired Parent Tips
Offer a prepared, uncluttered space, demonstrate slowly, allow hands-on repetition and follow the child's curiosity. Share playful stories or imaginative scenarios while respecting each child's choice to participate.
