Let's Learn to Measure Balance Scale Activity Kit | Weight, Length & Counting
Heavy or light? Explore with both hands
A colourful tabletop play kit showing a balance scale, measuring cups, cubes and illustrated activity cards. Use it to compare weight, explore length and build playful early maths vocabulary.
What children can explore
- Comparing heavier/lighter, more/less and length in concrete play
- Observation and simple prediction before checking the result
- Turn-taking, grasping and bilateral hand coordination
Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together. Start together, make the play predictable and allow your child to choose the pace.
Level 1 — Connect & demonstrate
Put one counter in a pan and watch the scale move. Narrate: “This side goes down. Heavy!” Let the child choose which pan to fill next.
Level 2 — Share the play
Take turns adding safe counters to each side. Ask, “Same or different?” and wait for a look, point or action before continuing.
Level 3 — Grow together
Use two or three different sets of counters, match pairs, estimate which side will tip, or follow one simple activity card at a time.
Adjusting play for different learning needs
- ADHD / active learners: Make one quick prediction-and-check game; use the scale movement as the immediate result.
- Autistic (ASD) / sensory-sensitive learners: Show a predictable left-pan/right-pan routine and limit distracting pieces until the concept is familiar.
- Developmental, intellectual or language differences: Use one large item in each pan; model each comparison slowly and repeat.
- AAC and non-speaking communicators: Offer picture choices, pointing, gestures or an AAC device. Accept a choice or action as a valid turn; do not insist on speech or eye contact.

FAQ for families and educators
Is this Montessori or Waldorf? The guided activity draws on Montessori-inspired hands-on exploration and Waldorf-inspired imaginative, relationship-based play; it is not a claim of official programme accreditation.
Can it treat ADHD, autism or developmental delays? No. These activities create opportunities for communication, coordination, problem-solving and shared attention; they are educational play ideas, not a treatment or a guaranteed developmental outcome.
Can adults adapt the challenge? Yes. Start with one short task and reduce steps, sensory input or pace according to the child's interests and abilities.
Safety & compliance
Adult supervision is recommended. Follow the age and safety warnings on the selected packaging. Small parts may present a choking hazard. CPC and CE testing documentation is held by the seller; documentation for the selected item can be requested. Product photos may show several selectable configurations, and exact contents depend on the option chosen.
Handle the balance scale gently; do not place heavy household objects or liquids on the toy unless the packaging explicitly permits it.
