Pretend Calculator Cash Register with Play Money | Shopping & Number Skills
A little shop with big opportunities for conversations
This pretend calculator cash register shows a working-style number keypad, drawer, coins and play notes. Children can explore shopping routines, sorting play money, taking turns as shopper and cashier, and language for everyday transactions.
What children can explore
- Simple number recognition, matching and counting play money
- Practical-life scripts such as greeting, choosing, paying and thanking
- Executive-function practice through turn-taking and role sequencing
Kinmilo Together Time: A Parent–Child Play Plan
Play Together. Grow Together. Start together, make the play predictable and allow your child to choose the pace.
Level 1 — Connect & demonstrate
Place two toy foods beside the register. Model: “Hello! One apple, please.” Press a single number key and show the opening drawer. Keep the pretend price simple.
Level 2 — Share the play
Swap cashier and shopper roles. Offer the child two objects to choose from; narrate, “You chose the banana. I will pay. Your turn to give the change.”
Level 3 — Grow together
Introduce two-item orders, matching one or two coins, a shopping list of pictures, or a predictable checkout routine with three steps.
Adjusting play for different learning needs
- ADHD / active learners: Run very short checkout rounds with one purchase before changing roles.
- Autistic (ASD) / sensory-sensitive learners: Create a visible first–then shopping sequence and allow quiet, scripted role-play without unexpected demands.
- Developmental, intellectual or language differences: Use large picture prompts and one item with a single coin before introducing totals.
- AAC and non-speaking communicators: Offer picture choices, pointing, gestures or an AAC device. Accept a choice or action as a valid turn; do not insist on speech or eye contact.

FAQ for families and educators
Is this Montessori or Waldorf? The guided activity draws on Montessori-inspired hands-on exploration and Waldorf-inspired imaginative, relationship-based play; it is not a claim of official programme accreditation.
Can it treat ADHD, autism or developmental delays? No. These activities create opportunities for communication, coordination, problem-solving and shared attention; they are educational play ideas, not a treatment or a guaranteed developmental outcome.
Can adults adapt the challenge? Yes. Start with one short task and reduce steps, sensory input or pace according to the child's interests and abilities.
Safety & compliance
Adult supervision is recommended. Follow the age and safety warnings on the selected packaging. Small parts may present a choking hazard. CPC and CE testing documentation is held by the seller; documentation for the selected item can be requested. Product photos may show several selectable configurations, and exact contents depend on the option chosen.
Play money and coins contain small pieces; adult supervision and packaging age limits apply.
